tumblr
Thursday, June 26th, 2008Tumblr. I like it. It’s good. But I don’t think it’s for me.
I have one, I set it up because I support many of the good things it does and is associate with (e.g. vimeo). It’s good for the Tumblr community. My beef: it’s good for the Tumblr community. If you’re on the outside, you’re on the outside. I’m on the outside.
My Tumblr has posts meant as reblogs to other posts. There’s no ping-backs, just reblogs. But I have all my stuff here. Now. Going from Blogger to WordPress was hard enough, I couldn’t take another change. And I couldn’t bare to go through with misses all the great improvements WordPress is making.
I’m not sure it makes a difference to my viewers, not that I have any. I assume each has his/her own way of viewing it: on the web, in Google Reader, FireAnt anyone?, maybe Miro. If all my followers, yes all two of you, were Tumblrers, I’d reconsider. But for now, I’m with WordPress, hosted on a server not 400 meters from where I am now.
